How to Setup Google apps for your Domain on ipage hosting


Few days ago I share with you How To Setup Google Apps with Your Own Domain To Create Free Email Address. That tutorial was based on cPanel hosting like Host Gator or Blue Host but not all web hosting provide you cPanel. If you are using cheap hosting then normally you don’t get cPanel hosting facility. iPage is one of the most popular cheap web hosting provider and iPage don’t provide cPanel Hosting.

Normally Google provide a tutorial how to setup Google Apps MX record for your domain to use domain email address but under Google apps control panel setup page Google do not provide any tutorial for iPage. Not only that Google default MX records property also not support by iPage, so here you need some trick to setup google apps. Just follow below steps to setup Google Apps with your domain and create free email address.

How to Setup Google apps on ipage hosting :

Step 1. First visit the below post and follow “Step 1 to Step 4?

Step 2. After complete the above steps visit this page to login to your iPage hosting control panel.

Step 3. Now in your iPage hosting control panel move your mouse to “Domain” and click on “Domain Central”.

Step 4. Now you can see number of domain hosted in this account. Click on the domain in which you want to setup Google Apps. Do not check the box, just click the domain name.

Step 5. Now you can see some tab like “Pointers”, “Transfer”, “DNS”, “NameServers” and “SubDomains”.

Step 6. Click on “DNS” tab, now from drop-down menu select MX Record. Now remove all existing MX Record. To remove existing MX Record , Go under the “Action” tab, click drop down menu and select “Remove”.

Step 7. Now add the following MX record one by one

Remember that it take up to 48 hours to update your MX Record.

If you want to choose custom URL to login to your email address like or then go to Setting (top right of main menu) > Email > Change URL under web address in your Google Apps Dashboard. Now click on Change URL link and after that select Custom option and change it to “email” or “mail” and click Continue button.

Now again login to your hosting control panel > Domain > Domain Control > Select Domain > DNS. Now first go to CNAME Alias and Add the following Data and again go to A Record and add the same data.

If you think this process is little complicated and you can not done this then I have a very simple one click method to to Setup Google apps.
Alternative method : How to Setup Google apps on ipage hosting :

First login to your hosting control panel, look at right sidebar and note down your website IP address.

Now go to iPage Custom DNS Record Console page.

Under “Primary Domain” option select your domain and click “Go” button and then enter your website IP address. Under “Subdomains” option, in first row enter mail or email (as you want) and in second row enter WWW and your Website IP address. Under “Wildcards” option enter your Website IP address. Under “Mail” settings enter MX property (MX1 to MX5) enter the MX details which I already mention above. After input all settings click “Save Zone File” . For reference see below image.
